A $717m Southern airport to be built in Rostov

A $717m airport, to be named Yuzhny (Southern), is to be built in Rostov region, regional officials report.

The project is reportedly to be 37% financed from the federal budget, the remaining sum is hoped to be raised from private investors.

Under plans, the airport is to be located on a 620-hectare site outside Bataysk – Rostov’s satellite town.
